AP SLICE
This rug’s organic shape, lines, and colour palette draw their inspiration from the stunning beauty revealed upon the slicing of purple agate stones. Symbolically, the rug refers to the many layers in our personalities as they are brought to life in an interplay of high-pile and low-pile lines and layers.
Caroline De Cuyper believes that AP Slice acts as a metaphor of self-reflection and the revelation of the hidden aspects both within ourselves and in today’s society. ‘In everything I do, I look for soul, impact and intent. To find that, you have to dig deeper. Under the surface of words and gestures lie layers of memories, emotions, culture and complex motivations.’
AP Slice is designed and crafted in collaboration with the Portuguese artisans of one of Europe’s oldest rug producers Ferreira de Sá. Using yarns made up of a mix of mohair and meadow wool, bamboo, and silk, the craftsmen employ a range of hand-knotted techniques.
