SC Oasis
True to Caroline De Cuyper’s ikigai, her Kapellen house extension is equally about designing and transforming; not just about creating but inspiring; not just about living but thriving.
Adjacent to the charming 1920’s home nestled in a peaceful private nature reserve, a stone’s throw from the city, the extension emerged from Caroline’s desire to design her own creative cocoon. It provides the perfect setting where she and her husband can work, enjoy a relaxing Sunday with Stéphane’s children when they are visiting their family home, or cluster with friends in the conversation pit.
In the basement, Caroline and Stéphane integrated a gym, sauna, and wine cabinets. The living room and offices are located just below the garden level, enabling the greenery to flow in through the windows. Warm, vintage orange colours perfectly complement rich rosewood.
The exterior of the extension was influenced by the designs of Swiss architect Peter Zumthor and developed in collaboration with Gestalt Architects.
